Hi, I’m Nicole.
Nicole Merkovsky is a Licensed Social Worker based in Central New Jersey and the author of Writing Through Grief, a platform dedicated to mental health. Through her writing, she offers valuable insights and resources aimed at supporting individuals through personal growth, mental health challenges, and overall well-being. Nicole’s approach is deeply rooted in empathy, strategic problem-solving, and a strong belief in the power of community support. Her writing addresses key topics like self-care, grief, emotional resilience, and personal empowerment, creating a safe space for readers to explore these vital areas.
Nicole holds a BS in Psychology/Child Advocacy from Montclair State University and an MSW in Micro/Macro Practice from Fordham University. She is Licensed Social Worker in the states of New York and New Jersey, Certified in New Jersey School Social Work, a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional, and a Certified Grief Counselor. She has also pursued additional certifications in Feminism and Social Justice (USC) and The Science of Wellbeing (Yale University).
Her professional journey has included roles such as Care Coordinator, where she led interdisciplinary teams to support individuals with intellectual disabilities and worked closely with at-risk youth in the child welfare system. Nicole’s skills in empathetic communication, collaboration, and strategic problem-solving have greatly informed her approach to helping others navigate life’s challenges.
A lover of reading, Nicole often finds inspiration in literary metaphors, believing that life is like the chapters of a book, with each new phase offering opportunities for renewal and growth. Her personal healing journey in 2023, following a car accident that upended her life and became the catalyst for her transformation. During this period, she worked with her own Certified Grief Educator, which led to her own certification through The Telehealth Certification Institute. This experience empowered her to support others who are navigating their own grief and loss, offering the same strength and direction she received.
Nicole’s writing is a testament to the idea that, like the closing of a book’s final chapter, new beginnings often emerge in the afterword of our lives.
